Describe your relationship with your
parents
Okay…wow another difficult Question.
I hope these questions get easier after this J
So here goes…
Mom- My relationship
with my mother was stressed growing up. As I got older and once I had my
daughter I could see that our relationship began to change. I found myself
going to her more and more about certain things about being a parent and being
a mother. As we all know there is no handbook to raising kids and there really
is no better person to ask about child-rearing then your own mother.
My mom really did try to make sure that I didn’t
make and don’t make some of the same mistakes that she did as a parent. I
respect my mom a lot more now that I am in my 30’s and I can understand why she
said the things that she said to me growing up. She wasn’t being mean, she was
just being protective because she knew what the world was about and didn’t want
me to get caught up in it.
Dad – Our
relationship has steadily been on the mend since I was 18 years old. Now we are
almost inseparable. He is constantly helping with pick up and drop off with my
daughter when I need to work late. If I need him for anything, I just have to
ask and he is there. He fills gaps and he is happy to do it. I appreciate all
that he does for me and my daughter.
Overall, I really
have the best parents in the world! We may not have always seen eye to eye…but
then again what kid and their parents are ever on the same page when they are
going through those rebellion years. I respect my parents and all that they
have done for my brother and me over the years.
My parents
have always wanted the best for us and did their best to give us whatever we
needed. They are supportive and understanding, firm yet empathetic. All they
want is to protect us and I can’t fault them for that.
