1. When did you start your blog?

2. Why did you start your blog?
The idea to start my blog came as I quit my job to stay at home with my three kiddos and as we began our "real foods" journey. This has lead to a much "greener" lifestyle as well as much more holistic approach to life. I found that I was learning so much that I needed an outlet to share what I was learning. It also came about as we discovered and struggled with our youngest son's battle with eczema.
3. What is the most challenging thing about blogging?
Finding the balance between "real life" and the demands of a home, husband and 3 kiddos and getting in my blogging time.
4. How did you come up with the name for your blog?
My biggest transition in 2011 was quitting my full time job I'd had for 7 years and taking the plunge to stay home with our three kids. "From City Corporate to Suburb Mama' felt like the perfect description of where I was in my life at the time.
5. What do you hope your follows were gain from reading your blog?
I hope they see that I'm just a wife and mama trying to make the best life for her family. We are not by any means perfect or do we have it all together, but we try our best and I'm so thankful for the life we have. I want them to know how important food and what we put in our bodies is to our overall health. I hope to teach a little bit of what I'm learning along the way.

In our pursuit of whole body wellness, I've definitely tried to be much more conscious of our environment and live in a way that has less detrimental impact on our world. I want to teach our kids that we are stewards of this planet and we need to treat it with the utmost care and respect.
It can be hard though, to live green, if you're on a budget! I know that was one of my biggest challenges starting off because I assumed that it would be too costly to overhaul our life like that. So, I began the search for an Eco-friendly lifestyle that wouldn't break the bank!
One of the first things I discovered last summer was something called soap nuts. It's an alternative to laundry detergent and something completely natural. Soap nuts are the dried berry of the Soap Berry Tree. They are organic, biodegradable, earth-friendly and have no chemicals or additives in them! When I first heard about them, I was instantly curious. I wondered how they compared to my homemade laundry detergent or how they compared to regular detergent you can buy at any grocery store.
Not until Christmas did I have a chance to find out. My parents give stocking presents to each of us every year and most of the time, I have no idea what I'd like...but this year, I have so many new things I want to try, it was easy coming up with a list. Soap Nuts were one of the things I asked for. And I got them.

I got a package that was big enough to do 40 + loads and that package alone lasted almost 2 months!
Honestly I think they are great! I love knowing that they are organic and won't irritate the skin. I love knowing that they aren't doing any damage our son, Lucas, who struggles with eczema! They are easy to use. The package I received came with a smaller pouch that you put 5-7 nuts in at a time and use to wash 4-6 loads of clothes. The only draw back for me is remembering to get the pouch out as soon as the load is done so that they dry out again (if you're not doing multiple loads, that is).
Once my supply is out, will I use them again? Yes, I think I would be happy to continue using them. Our clothes smell like nothing which I'm learning is such a great smell! So much so that I can hardly stand to smell conventional fabric softeners. They almost immediately give me a headache. I'm loving that God put these in nature for us to use, nothing harsh about them! And really, they aren't that much more expensive than a 100oz bottle of Tide
this will give you 64 loads for around $12. You can buy 1/2 pound of soap nuts that will give you 80+ loads for just $13.95. It's cheaper to go organic and be green! :)
The biggest selling point for me? Peace of mind. Knowing that the harsh chemicals in Tide or any other detergent aren't going in to washing our clothes and ultimately rubbing up against our skin.
